TOM HALL is a UK-based Australian composer, performer and writer on music with interests in both acoustic and live electronic music. His works usually involves notions of flow and slowness. Much of Hall’s music combines composed, algorithmic and improvisatory elements often using multichannel sound or individually experienced mobile sound. Collaborative and practice-based work tends to share some form of digital notation with audiences. Fixed works often centre around the human voice and text, including those of author Gerald Murnane.

Tom Hall’s musicological is centred on aspects of early tape, electronic and UK computer music, including the work of Peter Zinovieff. Other research interests encompass the music of John Cage and Morton Feldman, including works involving technology. He is currently Programme Director for the BMus (Hons) degree in Creative Music Technology in the Department of Music and Media at the University of Surrey.
